How it all started

The Grey Colt name comes from the store's original owners, Pris & Ash Graham and Patty & Stewart Coulton. Its doors first opened in the spring of 1959 in an upstairs space above Isaly's. In 1962 it moved down the street next to Saywell's, where it remains to this day. Patty worked there from the start until 1999, Her daughter, Katie, has also been there since the early 1970's until she sold The Grey Colt to Julie Burner Kalis in August 2018.

The well known bouquet of Jinny Ellis flowers painted on the front door, a well-worn wingchair and couch, and lots of additional eye candy welcome customers to relax and shop in the warm and inviting atmosphere of this friendly store.

We offer a selection of dresses, related separates, unique jackets, sweaters, tunics, accessories, and a tabletop full of shoes. Our sales staff prides themselves on remembering the names of returning customers while welcoming new friends to ensure that everyone who visits the store receives the personal and individual attention that has been a signature in The Grey Colt for more than 60 years.
